Doula & Lactation Support

Culturally responsive doula and lactation services that honor your experience, empower your choices, and support your family regardless of your ability to pay.

You Deserve Support. You Deserve Care.

Pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood are among life’s most transformative experiences. They can also be overwhelming, isolating, and filled with uncertainty, especially when access to quality, culturally responsive care is limited.

At Cultivating Futures, we believe that every person deserves compassionate, knowledgeable support during these critical moments. Our doula and lactation services are designed to meet you where you are, honor your unique journey, and empower you with the education, advocacy, and care you need to thrive.

Cost should never be a barrier to care. We work with any budget, including no budget. Sliding scale options, grant-funded services, and flexible arrangements ensure that every family can access the support they deserve.

Doula Services

What is a Doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a person before, during, and after childbirth. Doulas do not provide medical care but instead complement your healthcare team by offering personalized support focused on your wellbeing, comfort, and empowerment.

  • Education about pregnancy, labor, and birth options
  • Birth plan development and discussion
  • Comfort measures and coping techniques
  • Emotional support and encouragement
  • Resource connection and community referrals
  • Partner and family preparation
  • Postpartum check-ins and emotional support
  • Breastfeeding/feeding support
  • Newborn care education
  • Processing the birth experience
  • Resource connection for ongoing needs
  • Partner and family adjustment support
  • Continuous presence throughout labor and delivery
  • Physical comfort measures (positioning, massage, breathing techniques)
  • Emotional reassurance and encouragement
  • Advocacy for your preferences and needs
  • Support for your partner or support person
  • Communication facilitation with medical team

Research shows that continuous doula support leads to:

  • Shorter labor
  • Reduced need for pain medication
  • Lower rates of cesarean birth
  • Increased satisfaction with birth experience
  • Better breastfeeding outcomes
  • Reduced risk of postpartum depression
  • More positive feelings about the birth experience

Most importantly: You’ll have someone in your corner who is focused entirely on YOU, your comfort, your choices, your voice, and your wellbeing.

Our Approach

Culturally Responsive Care

We recognize that pregnancy, birth, and feeding practices are deeply influenced by culture, tradition, and lived experience. Our team honors diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and practices, and we work to provide care that respects and incorporates your cultural values.

We understand that pregnancy and birth can bring up past trauma or create new challenges. Our approach is sensitive, gentle, and focused on creating safety, trust, and empowerment throughout your journey.

Our doulas and lactation consultants stay current with research and best practices, ensuring you receive accurate, up-to-date information to guide your decisions.

We see you as a whole person not just a pregnant person or a nursing parent. We address your physical, emotional, mental, and social wellbeing because all of these areas matter.
